twilight: the talk of the town.

if i weren't getting pissed off by the whole bashing thing about this novel, then i would be finishing our project proposal for the loyola mountaineers, making my homework in math, reading in advance for our english subject, and smiling.

i just hate why people have to BASH, not express a critique, but BASH this novel. just the same way why i hate people expressing their love for twilight only because Robert Pattinson is the one playing Edward Cullen in the movie. Ridiculous.

Now I get the point that maybe yes, this is all about Bella being madly in love with this vampire and it sucks that what we readers have to read is the thought that "God, this man is perfect. god-like.." blah blah blah. but that's that. you can't argue how Stephanie Meyer decides how the novel would go, what point of view especially that she would take, and what the plot would be. it's her creation. it's a fiction for God's sake! i think she's just giving us another view of what vampires, these mythical creatures, might just be. it's a different world she painted but we have to respect it.

and i know a lot of people are disappointed with the novel (i myself being part of it, in a way), but that doesn't mean you have the right to put it under a stereotype of a bad literature. for one, it's a chick lit. maybe it's just not you're taste so don't go forcing yourself to finishing the novel if you really hate it in your first reading (but i still suggest to give it a chance). people have different tastes, in case you haven't noticed. and if you think you're the god of know-it-all, then ask the fans why they don't seem to despise the novel. same goes for those who declares their love for the novel and don't quite understand the haters. you guys MUST have reasons.

i don't seem to understand either why you have to blame Meyer for making a novel like this, especially with that point of view. i personally think that she wrote it quite good and convincing to be Bella. wouldn't you think it a big disaster if we weren't convinced to be in Bella's head as we read it? it's sometimes nice to be not in a third person point of view -- that gives us a challenge to understand what other people in the novel might be plotting...

on another aspect... this "porn" thing. jeez. it's the 21st century. i understand we have principles (i myself included), but just KEEP AN OPEN MIND! i don't get it why you can stand to watch a porn movie (or at least a scene in a movie near that...) and say this novel is crap because of those equally "obscene" scenes. hypocrites. movies are even worse than these. why don't you keep an open mind -- that's how to read a novel.

it's also absurd why people have to bash this novel. it deserves some hate, i understand, because people have different tastes; just be reasonable. but hating and bashing are totally different. bashing. jeez. i believe that as long as one person believes a novel, or any literature, is good, then it does not deserve the bashing. give it a chance, keep an open mind. i believe you guys are just caught up with either the really good, kilig, or whatever positive side there is, or the stupid, horny, cheesy side of the novel. why can't you look at the novel as a WHOLE. keep it balanced. there's always those two sides in a literature.

i'm not telling you guys to stop hating or stop loving the novel (but i am telling you to stop bashing the novel). it's unfair, especially for Meyer (and the actors who might be a little pressured by your bashing) to not give it a chance and keep an open mind.

why don't you start writing a critique instead?
