Dance in the dark
Some girls are dying to dance up front.

a hasty generalization:

GUYS ARE A LOT WEAKER THAN GIRLS!

i got into a small argument with some blockmates some time in the past two weeks, and we ended up arguing which of the human species are stronger: the males or the females?

of course i said that the FEMALES are STRONGER. what girl wouldn't? (again, a fallacy: loaded question... err, this is just nerdy)

anyway, i said that for several reasons. girls are stronger because we're not afraid to show our emotions. guys are weaker because they hide their emotions and "show" them through drinking, smoking, etc. physically, not all girls are weak, nor are all boys strong and muscular (exhibit A: me... well, sort of, according to my blockmates). then if we speak of love, i say guys are weaker 'coz they can't "stand" us girls when we have simple demands. they say we girls demand a lot, i say we don't. guys are just weak. :D

but then again, these are hasty generalizations.

so now i say emotional strength (let's focus on this rather than physical strength) is relative. it depends on how one defines strength (actually, this can be true for any other word). i think if you define strength as being able to show your true feelings, then you're strong enough or brave enough to show them. if you think strength is being able to keep your feelings intact within yourself, then i guess you're strong enough not to show them. if you think drinking instead of crying is a showcase of strength, then perhaps we can consider that being strong. if you think crying is a display of strength, then it can be strength. if you think being able to handle pain is strength, then emo people who slash their wrists can be considered strong.

therefore, strength depends on how the person sees/defines it. i guess, this also is based on one's personality. since an introvert person is naturally keeping things to himself, then he may probably see strength as being able to show his feelings and emotions; an extrovert, on the other hand, may deem strength as being able to contain his/her emotions within his/her own bubble. it all depends on the person. again, it can be the other way around.

so which of the human species exactly is the stronger one? the males? or the females?

it cannot be answered. even if we take on a definition, we can't land to an answer that's either "males" or "females". :)

p.s.

the better question may be: "between [person1] and [person2], who's stronger based on [definition]?"
