now that was foolish
Sunday, September 16, 2007, 12:40 AM
i was just scanning through files and data here in this laptop when i stumbled upon a folder of pictures entitled "NAsHDC". (that reminded me that i haven't blogged since i arrived but it's kind of too late to talk about the nash so i'll be trashing my draft on that). when i opened the folder, memories about the nash came flashing back into my head. then one picture caught my eye -- a guy.
i remembered, there was this guy i was crushing on during the nash (i know it's pathetic to put this here, but i sorta find this funny). it was a shallow crush --the usual girl-likes-that-guy-because-of-blah-blah-blah crush. funny how it happened though. we were matched up against their team during the first round and we were shouting out their team name, "*****r B!" we were shouting because we couldn't find them at first. but when we finally found them -oh no! i regreted that shouting part. they were just there..and he was, errm, handsome?? yes, i know it's too shallow. actually, this was all their fault! (sorry girls). if not for their gwapo-hunting adventures, i wouldn't have done so myself. so there, he caught my eye. pathetic. hahaha. what made me crush on him even more was his speaking skills. seriously, he.can.talk.! i was taken aback during his speech. he was so good. i was left speechless at time. haha. (actually, we found out that debating runs in their family. his brother was also there in the nash).. hmm.. there were times when we had eye contact during the debate. just times. haha. and he carries that smile as if he is always up to something. i dunno, his smile just seems to be a mischievous smile. liked it. so there, i had a crush on him. and what stupidity might have i done (you might ask)? well, let's just say i had a camera with me. my comrades told me to take pictures of the "handsome" guys we found. and yes, he's one of them. and then again, yes, i took pictures of him. it was hard. we tried not to make it obvious --we even posed just so they won't think that we're taking a picture of him when in fact we actually were! we also took off the flash, but there was a time when angenette forgot to remove the flash! haha! that was so obvious. how embarrassing! and there was really a time when we were at a, should i say, perfect angle to take a picture of him. great. he was there!! but when i was about to capture the picture, he suddenly LOOKED RIGHT AT ME. strike two of getting caught! that was so embarrassing! T_T i just made an adlib as if saying that they (my team mates) should take their pose already; however, my team mates didn't cooperate. :( so that was it, we were able to take stolen shots, but now i look at it as a stupid or pathetic thing to do. but if i wasn't caught, it wouldn't have been THAT pathetic. but still. so now i feel like the jerk who took pix of a hearthrob during the nash. that was just a shallow crushing. haha. foolish! |

in serious need of matter load
Wednesday, August 29, 2007, 12:33 AM
the clock's ticking.
only one day left. the competition shall commence. yeah, as a lot of you may have heard or read, we're joining in the NAsHDC (National Asians High School Debate Chapmionship). It's the 5th time around this competition is held. three teams from our school are going. team A is composed of irwin, diane, and yours truly. team B has aiah, erwin and anj; while team C is made up of jim, roxanne and raisa. we'll be leaving on thursday (that's tomorrow), and from that day on, it will be unclear as to whether i'd be able to go online, chat, update my blog, and the like. but don't worry, i'll be back on sept. 5 (wednesday). haha. oh well, people are rejoicing that we'll be leaving tomorrow. as they say, there will be 'tranquility' in our electron. apparently, we -irwin, diane, jim, erwin, and i -are said to be the noisiest in class (particularly irwin, diane and i). moreover, our batch won't be as dynamic (noisy, in other words) because of our absence. dang, don't you know we'll be missing a week's worth of lessons?! haha. speaking of lessons to be missed, we have already secured our excuse letter/promisory note (i think). but that's not all the burden we have. to prepare for the NAsH is another thing. hello?!? we (or maybe just i) haven't done intensive matter load!! from paris hilton, to terrorisms, to human security acts to affirmative action, etc... we know little, maybe even a lot less than the other participants there. what's wrecking my nerves is that they might bitch about us when we get there. or we might make a fucked up definition for heaven's sake! but that's not all. the participants will be coming from prestigious schools like ATENEO, La Salle, etc. OMG. do we have a chance? no, rather, do i have a chance?! but i know we'll just have to do our best. besides, kuya lievj did train us VERY WELL... WAY better than the "other" trainors. haha. as he had once said, "tang-ina mo kung taga ateneo ka! taga-pisay ata toh!!!" (to think he's an atenista) anyway, yeah, who cares, right?! but i still think we're in dire need for matter. haha. we won't get a chance to win or even make a stand w/o matter. oh well, i really am in serious need of matter load. PS! guys, please do pray for us. to my english group, i support you in spirit!! please do well!! i'll pray for you! hihi. make me proud! (char!) to electron, hmm.. we might bring something back for you! to our research group mates who will be left behind (marvin and hermie), don't worry, we have something for you when we get there. to our batchmates, i'll miss you!! to everyone, yeah, i'll miss pisay!! haha.. take care!! we shall return!! it just doesn't seem right

abnormal. 'ab' meaning not or above or something like that. ab+normal = abnormal = not normal or above normal. but for these events, it's just simply not normal. not blogging for a very long time is abnormal.
i've been busy since last week. hell yeah... busy.. the sportsfest was fun, really, but i couldn't totally enjoy it. or i just didn't really enjoy it. the feeling of getting straight wins was not that exhilirating anymore. i mean, it was like "no chal" for some games (to be honest). or maybe i was just not feeling it. damn, i was hoping it would be the BEST sportsfest ever, but i was surely wrong. the only highlight, for me, of the sportsfest was our SECOND TIME IN A ROW TO CHAMPION THE CHEERDANCE COMPETITION. yeah, we won the cheerdance competition when we were in 3rd yr, then again in our senior year. but we actually sucked up during the dance part because of that stupid cd. we would've performed superb if the ipod was used. anyway, we didn't anticipate it so we were amazed with the result. despite the fact that the sophies had a choreographer plus "wow"-ing stunts, and the juniors' somehow intimidating performance, we won. that was the surprising thing. the freshies, on the other hand, well.. performed as what we expected... and i guess that was the main highlight of the sportsfest --the cheerdance (for me of course.) and yeah, i should say this sportsfest was a bluff (no offense to the sports council. remember i'm stating what i felt during the activity, not your way of organizing and managing it). i felt so down that a lot of games/events were taken away. there were no mr/ms/couple sportsfest, no softball, no mastermind, etc. no SPECIAL EVENTS! and to think this was our last year! i wanted it to be memorable. and hell yeah, that was memorable. bad memory. we never got the chance to champ the basketball boys. at first we were enlightened w/ the fact that we were twice to beat. then came issues about debunking that 2x to beat rule since we had 9 players (daw.) but it didn't push through. during the 1st game, all other players got fouled out except for glendon and emman. great... 2 against 5! our hopes were flactuating during the game because of the 3-point difference between the scores of the sparrows and us pteryx. then suddenly we would tie-up because of emman's amazing 3-point shots. then they would be ahead again, so on so forth.. but quantity prevailed. the juniors won by 5 points. during the second game, then again, there was a 5-point difference. damn. but this time, none of them "graduated". grr. it could've been a good sports story (the 1st game..)... but it's not it. i didn't enjoy the sportsfest as much as last year because we were assigned to document the boring games. haha. mind games and the table tennis games. though the table tennis was actually a bit of a challenge, it was still boring 'coz we weren't out nor on the field. hehe. and the mind games, of course, was..boring.. :) anyway, yah, that was abnormal. and apart from the responsibilities of being the eic, i'm a debater (or at least i think i am). we started our training for the NasHDC (a 5th natinal debate competition in la salle) on the first day of the sportsfest. (or was it the second day?). 5:30- pm until 7 or way past 7 pm.. and yeah, that was excruciating. the UPians were good. but not until kuya lievj came into the picture. the atenistas are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. idol! yeah, kuya lievj came here to tacloban to train us. and also because it was his birthday (aug.24).. what a great way to celebrate his birthday. anyway, yeah, he's way better. my jaws dropped when he started talking. and now he's giving me the creeps since he's an atenista and we'll be competing against his fellow schoolmates. well anyway, he's really good. seriously. he taught us the basics, fundamentals, etc. and how to bitch people. bwahaha. >:) and seriously, i learned a lot from him. he's a good trainor and a good debater. way better than the upians (frankly speaking..).. and he taught us how to ACTUALLY debate! something we actually didn't posses! anyway, i've checked my grades. and as expected, i didn't make it to the DL. this is my worst performance in pisay (yet). but i expected it. its reasonable. hello?! reality check: i was lie low.. realy lie low.. low enough to get..... 1.66?! but still ranked 5.5 in our class. pathetic. hmmm.. so anyway, that's how i've been spending my days and nights... i've been abnormal.. really abnormal.
