Dance in the dark
Some girls are dying to dance up front.

gown = uniform

here we go again. i have come to face yet another dilemma, well, not really a dilemma since the answer is so obvious, but what the heck: prom or intel?

i know, i know, it's damn obvious. 'thing is, why the hell do these two events have to happen at the same time? it's been years, and the intel science fair has always fallen on the same day as the prom (except perhaps last year when the national science fair, which was a bad experience for our advisers, coincided with the prom). it just pisses me off. all these research and science events just had to fall on the same day of the prom! you see, either way, i would certainly be missing perhaps more than a half of my life. it's self explanatory - c'mon.

but let's just weigh the two situations. in the prom, i'd be with all my friends. i'd be enjoying the dance, be part of the bequethal ceremony, perhaps be one of the cotillion dancers, and simply have fun. surprises would be lurking around, and i believe i'd be teasing my batchmates who might just dance with their special someones. i'd be giggling and laughing, and my aura and energy might be too high for me to handle(?). i'd be taking pictures here and there. it would be one hell of a night. on the other hand, the intel's going to be a rather new experience. it will be three days of something i'm not quite sure of (seriously, i don't know). i'd just be with two of my friends (at least close friends ^_^) and also with our adviser. i'd be the only girl. but it would most definitely be a new experience.

the prom will be seriously wacky (how ironic) and a lot more fun. but in the intel, we'd be bringing in glory (hopefully) to our school and ourselves as well. the prom is a twice-in-a-lifetime high school experience, while the intel's just once in a lifetime. i know the answer is obvious, but if i throw the question at you, here's the bottom line: if you're all for the fun, go to the prom; but if you're all for the glory, attend the intel science fair! choose well.

*sigh* why didn't the two events just have different schedules?! why did they have to coincide with one another? and why did the intel have to be in manila? why not tacloban?? so we (jim, irwin, and i) would be able to attend both events we most certainly wouldn't want to miss? or why, in the first place, did we join that competition? in fact, we're also receiving much burden for joining?? why did we have to win? ahhck! were we really meant for this?

i guess these are the times when God is telling us that we can't have everything we want. i know it's hard to accept -seriously, i do KNOW. i've been through that a lot of times already. i've been asked questions like whether to be SA Vice President or SciNet eic? attend the rsspc or the 1st phi sci dc? etc. these are the times when we have to make wise decisions. decisions we wouldn't regret at the end of the day.

when i learned that the prom was on the 15th of February, i became anxious about the date of the intel, praying that it wouldn't fall on the days near that. but as we received the news that intel's gonna be on the 13th-16th, our hearts all sank. there go our hopes for the prom. damnit. and sometimes, i get a bit annoyed by the badgering of my batchmates that we wouldn't be at the prom. arrgh. *sigh*

but as much as we would rather attend the prom, it's still our obligation to join the intel (not unless we get dq'd *wears a mischievous smile*). and it's a once in a lifetime experience; on the other hand, we can still party more with our batchmates (but sadly, no juniors). moreover, not all get the chance to represent their school, so we actually are privileged to join in the intel. plus, this will look good in our resumes and add up to our recognition list. :)

but honestly, if i could change the schedule for the prom or the IPSF, i'd do it. i got really furious and disappointed when we heard the news. it's gonna be the last prom, and one of the "lasts" our batch will have, and we just HAVE to MISS IT!??! damn.. T_T

oh well, so there goes my plans for my gown, hairstyle, make-up, and all that paraphernalia for the prom - all these replaced by what i wear almost everyday: the uniform.
