curse our regional journalism coordinator!
Thursday, May 08, 2008, 7:22 AM
ok, i take that back. i might be accused of libel here. but c'mon! he didn't give us our deserved credit. the story? here goes.. during the national secondary schools press conference, our school paper won 1st place in Best in Sports Page and 2nd in Best in Layout Design. we were, of course thrilled and thankful! but i was, at the same time wondering why my friends who were in the nsspc said that we won two 1st places and a 2nd place. they weren't able to take note of them so i didn't bother anymore. besides, i might sound pretty conceited if i do so. hehe. :) now, a month (or two?) has passed since that day. i actually forgot about it already. but then our adviser suddenly texted me today to check deped's website and see the nsspc memorandum. here are some pictures.. (click the link if you want to verify. just be patient as the page loads). yeah. we won first place in best in sports page. and we know. :) we even had pictures taken with them. :) and yes, we also won in best in layout design. and we placed 2nd there. :) but alas. just as what our adviser said in her text. we won 1st place in the top 7 school papers in our category! my friends were right! we did bag two 1st places. the trophy is with our regional coordinator whose office didn't even bother to inform us!! hogging all the glory?!? balitz.. at least we know it's not his!! but anyway, the damage has been done. i just don't know if we'd be able to retrieve the trophy. tsk tsk. well, congratulations to us i guess, though it's pretty much late. nonetheless, it's better late than never. great job scinet staffers! and keep up the legacy future scinet staffers. :) Labels: journalism, nsspc 2008, pshs-evc, scinet |

school, ok ka lang?
Wednesday, February 06, 2008, 6:26 PM
it's so sad, i wasn't able to go to church for the Ash Wednesday mass. it's my first time to miss it. eh bakit ba kasi hindi nag-misa yung school???
i don't know with you guys but i do find it pathetic not to have a mass all because it's the ACHIEVEMENT TESTS next week! i mean, hello?? do we not need DIVINE INTERVENTION then?? is it not important to attend a mass? to ask for the Lord's blessings? to be refreshed with the value of being born from ash, and dying to ash? i don't know with the school. it seems hypocritical though that they collect all those prayers done during the flag ceremony but not have a mass on a holy day.. but yeah, it can't be helped, it's partly my fault i wasn't able to attend it.. well, it's because i had two commitments today -- club council and yearbook stuff, so yeah, i "overtimed" and wasn't able to attend the mass anymore.. :( Labels: ash wednesday, mass, pshs-evc |

gown = uniform

here we go again. i have come to face yet another dilemma, well, not really a dilemma since the answer is so obvious, but what the heck: prom or intel?
i know, i know, it's damn obvious. 'thing is, why the hell do these two events have to happen at the same time? it's been years, and the intel science fair has always fallen on the same day as the prom (except perhaps last year when the national science fair, which was a bad experience for our advisers, coincided with the prom). it just pisses me off. all these research and science events just had to fall on the same day of the prom! you see, either way, i would certainly be missing perhaps more than a half of my life. it's self explanatory - c'mon. but let's just weigh the two situations. in the prom, i'd be with all my friends. i'd be enjoying the dance, be part of the bequethal ceremony, perhaps be one of the cotillion dancers, and simply have fun. surprises would be lurking around, and i believe i'd be teasing my batchmates who might just dance with their special someones. i'd be giggling and laughing, and my aura and energy might be too high for me to handle(?). i'd be taking pictures here and there. it would be one hell of a night. on the other hand, the intel's going to be a rather new experience. it will be three days of something i'm not quite sure of (seriously, i don't know). i'd just be with two of my friends (at least close friends ^_^) and also with our adviser. i'd be the only girl. but it would most definitely be a new experience. the prom will be seriously wacky (how ironic) and a lot more fun. but in the intel, we'd be bringing in glory (hopefully) to our school and ourselves as well. the prom is a twice-in-a-lifetime high school experience, while the intel's just once in a lifetime. i know the answer is obvious, but if i throw the question at you, here's the bottom line: if you're all for the fun, go to the prom; but if you're all for the glory, attend the intel science fair! choose well. *sigh* why didn't the two events just have different schedules?! why did they have to coincide with one another? and why did the intel have to be in manila? why not tacloban?? so we (jim, irwin, and i) would be able to attend both events we most certainly wouldn't want to miss? or why, in the first place, did we join that competition? in fact, we're also receiving much burden for joining?? why did we have to win? ahhck! were we really meant for this? i guess these are the times when God is telling us that we can't have everything we want. i know it's hard to accept -seriously, i do KNOW. i've been through that a lot of times already. i've been asked questions like whether to be SA Vice President or SciNet eic? attend the rsspc or the 1st phi sci dc? etc. these are the times when we have to make wise decisions. decisions we wouldn't regret at the end of the day. when i learned that the prom was on the 15th of February, i became anxious about the date of the intel, praying that it wouldn't fall on the days near that. but as we received the news that intel's gonna be on the 13th-16th, our hearts all sank. there go our hopes for the prom. damnit. and sometimes, i get a bit annoyed by the badgering of my batchmates that we wouldn't be at the prom. arrgh. *sigh* but as much as we would rather attend the prom, it's still our obligation to join the intel (not unless we get dq'd *wears a mischievous smile*). and it's a once in a lifetime experience; on the other hand, we can still party more with our batchmates (but sadly, no juniors). moreover, not all get the chance to represent their school, so we actually are privileged to join in the intel. plus, this will look good in our resumes and add up to our recognition list. :) but honestly, if i could change the schedule for the prom or the IPSF, i'd do it. i got really furious and disappointed when we heard the news. it's gonna be the last prom, and one of the "lasts" our batch will have, and we just HAVE to MISS IT!??! damn.. T_T oh well, so there goes my plans for my gown, hairstyle, make-up, and all that paraphernalia for the prom - all these replaced by what i wear almost everyday: the uniform. ** dq'd disqualified Labels: 2008 intel science fair, crap, dilemma, national, prom, pshs-evc |

batch 2008 once again makes history in pisay-evc
Saturday, January 12, 2008, 8:26 PM
this is just cool! although the official results for the upcat weren't posted in the internet by up yet, someone wise enough thought of going to UP herself and taking pictures of the list of qualifiers of the exam posted there, and of course, posting them here on the internet. in fact, she's a multiply user: http://mycadaver.multiply.com/photos/album/15/UPCAT_result
however, when we looked at the pictures, they weren't what we expected. fine, just say it, feeler kami. we don't give a damn; point is, RAFAEL CHU, BILLY ESQUIVEL, or even ERWIN VILLEJO weren't on the passers list. (oi, waray may mahilaba it atay ha?? haha) my dad had my cousin in manila check my name earlier before we ourselves checked for online updates. my dad said i was on the pending list. fine, ok. at least i was pending. so when we didn't fine the names mentioned above in the passers list, fine, we checked the pending list. and tada! PENDING! ALL (or maybe almost all) BATCH 2008 were on the PENDING CASES. If you don't find your name in the list of qualifiers, check the list of Pending Cases. This is a list of applicants who failed to submit all the required documents/credentials when they filed their applications to take the UPCAT. The UPCAT results of these applicants cannot be released until the required documents/credentials are completed and processed. If you find your name on this list, you should immediately contact Office of Admissions to find out what document/s or other credential/s you need to submit so that your UPCAT results can be released. woooh. this is just awesome! now we get the last priority for admissions! and we're not even sure if we'd be admitted. what we're sure, at the very least, for now is that we passed. merely passed. we might lack a lot of requirements. wooh. but guys, let's think positive. at least the school knows about this issue now.. it's their's to handle. so let's not let this thing bother us when we take the dost exam tomorrow.. and mind you, when we enroll in up with a dost scholarship, we get full scholarships! (i think..).. but again, let's not be bothered; i know it would be hard though.. :D well anyway, batch 08! we're so great!! we made history once again! walang pumasa! lahat pending!! :)) Labels: batch 2008, pending, pshs-evc, upcat |

wearing that piece of mantel for seven days straight (neglect CAT uniform) is just weird.
Sunday, December 09, 2007, 10:07 PM
it's a miracle!! congrats to all of us! and praise the Lord!!
the 2007-2008 regional intel philippine science fair just concluded earlier. before, it was handled by dost, but now DepEd handles it for certain reasons concerning the winners.. well, they won. we won. great. congrats everyone!! specifically to totan, bley, lorenz, rap-rap, dexter, irwin, jim, and sir carl and mam janeth.. you all did great!! :) and to those who weren't able to make it to the top 3, it doesn't mean you weren't great. some were just better in presenting (perhaps) or defending.. "just do better next time," as said by Dr. Antonio Lim.. anyway, we all enjoyed the intel sci fair. if only we stayed-in, it would've been way better. we really bonded with each other that time, and made new friend(s) like albeth's cousin, joan, from asian development foundation. oh well. today was hell great. after the awarding, we went straight to school to leave those not-so-heavy but somewhat-bulky panel boards. after there, we went to downtown for lunch. we thought of going to greenwich first, but then it was full. we went to cindy's. it was full. we went to farenheit. and yes, it was full. then we decided... SHAKEYS. sosyalan?? haha. not quite. well, if not for the prize money, then yes, it would seem that we were rich people.. but apparently, it was just the prize money. sir carl treated us all there (me, irwin, jim, rap, lo, dex, ena, bley, hya, marj, gelai, totan. kay and aiah weren't around). we all got soooooo full!! what with the yummy lunch and the bottomless iced tea??? wooh.. it was great (thanks sir!!).. then some second year girls and a third year guy came in.. (j, s, k, g).. hmm.. let's not talk about them.. after eating in shakeys, we went around downtown. entering every store that we passed by -abubutz, children's place, bobson, etc.. until we reached gaisano where we did more roaming and playing around (not to mention making a lot of noise).. we were making fun of the toys there and the cards they had there which were all soo CORNY!! oh well.. :) at around 4 pm we decided to leave for Sto. Niño church, of course to thank God for everything.. while walking down the stairs, we did something.. say, mischievous! we all pretended to look at some part in gaisano (like the lights) as if we were curious what was there. then when we looked around, we'd laugh 'coz all the other people were looking at the very same spot we looked at. hahaha! mga uwat!!! well, kidding aside, we proved that people are apparently curious people. (in other words, mahilig maki-usyoso). :D i know, i know, you'd say that that was plain WRONG since we were in uniform, bringing the name of our school and making fun of people.. well, i'm not arguing with you.. :) we had loads of fun! anyway, one more thing and probably the last thing we all laughed about was the weird looks and stares we'd get from people!! hahaha. it was soo funny, really, with those stares as if they were saying "what are you doing here in your uniforms? are you lost in time? it's sunday for heaven's sake!! are you out of clothes??".. and according to ena, when she was asked why we were in uniforms, she said, "wala lang (oh nothing)." what an answer! people then would confirm that out-of-clothes theory.. hahaha!! really, it's funny.. and seems abnormal to the eyes of the people.. and weird at the same time.. wearing that piece of uniform for seven straight days?? (well maybe six)! haha. :D Labels: 2007 intel science fair, fun, pshs-evc, research |

turned 15 on 15
Saturday, June 16, 2007, 12:28 AM
I was just scribbling on a previously clean sheet of paper i got from Michael. It was our Soc. Sci. 4 class, commonly known as Econ. And the teacher? Well, let's just say that he kept on calling one of our classmate, Erwin. (haha. peace!! i'm so bad.. Pisay peepz, i know you get this..)
Anyway, it was a boring day. Or rather, a boring time of the day. Afternoon, around 12:50, not that hot, kinda windy, and just plain boring. Our teacher was discussing things about economics -- why the toilets of men and women in airports are near each other, why diamonds are more expensive than water, why customers give tips, etc. I wasn't that attentive, although I was in the front row and in the 3rd column from the door -- in short terms, near the middle. Besides, it was our assignment exercise. We were just discussing it. So that was why I took that paper, and scribbled. That is somehow what became the "product" of my boredom in econ. (haha). plus a bit of physics. And that was just the same moment when I realized, I turned 15 on 15 (June 15). What a coincidence! By the way, the "magdusa ka" part there was during our econ. I was like chosen to report on chapter 15, (wow, wat a coincidence again) all by myself since i wouldn't have a pair because i'm the last of the 27 students in our class! My day seemed to have gone well though. I woke up early for the CAT Orientation and arrived at school at past 6:30. The orientation actually started at around 7 already. (So much for arriving early at school!). It was supposed to end at around 8:20(?) but the guidance counselor insisted that we fill up the UPcat application forms 1 & 2, thus, pressuring us in making instant decisions and not to mention shortening our "free period" on the 2nd period for our CAT! (darn, haven't even decided yet.) Then lunch came. We went to the canteen, as always, and bought food. (duh). Then my classmates started singing,
then all the other students in the canteen sang with them, too. It was dynamic, mind you, and at the same time kind of embarassing. (hello? who am i to be sang with a "happy birthday" in the canteen that dynamin!!?) I planned to hide and realized that that was pathetic, so I just remained seated and smiling, not able to say a word. (I was kinda happy with that, too, you know!) After that we went to the guard house. Then back up to the 3rd floor and into our room, just to realize that my cellular phone was MISSING!! Where in the world would that cellphone go!?? I knew it was with me when we went to the guard house, so I went back, but the guard said it wasn't with him! We went back up, traced our steps, but to no avail -- my cellphone was LOST. We went to Mrs. dela Cruz, our CISD Chief, and inquired for any turned over cellular phones. None. But then I realized that my baggy jogging pants were really baggy and that my pockets were so wide or maluwang so we back tracked once more, this time being more careful. And, Alas! I found it lying on the bermuda grass under the scorching heat of the sun, near the GUARD HOUSE! hah! Next stop, Physics. No classes, just a "seatwork." A seatwork in a sense that we just sat down, did nothing, or otherwise did something we could do while seated. Yeah, that was basically what we did. No lectures because we were ahead. (thanks sir x!) After that, Snack time. The III-Sodium meeting commenced, and we decided that the class fund be used for an outing anytime this school year. Great! Then, my Mommy Mutz (Mutya) decided to fix my hair when I saw her hair and found it neat! But then Ms.J reprimanded me. Flashy?! Was that really Flashy?!? Dang, could this be my second DR (Discipline Record) next to my first one, which was cruising through downtown in uniform?!? (Mood: Aggrieved, Disappointed) Worse, something happened. Well, I thought a somebody would go to my party, but sadly, didn't. My mom even looked for that somebody when we arrived home.(Mood: Sad, Worse, Very Disappointed) 6:oo pm. PARTY TIME! We arrived at our house at around 6:oo pm. I had a whole "batallion" with me. We were so many. More than 25! haha. Eat ... eat ... eat ... Spaghetti, Chicken, Lechon, Cookies, etc. Then talk ... talk ... talk ... Spin the bottle (that didn't go well.)... zero-zero-seven-bang! (007 bang) didn't go very well either because Irwin didn't submit to the dare! (peace 'win!!).. Music, keyboards, talk, play, laugh.. Chase Wyonna, and her Cousins.. Aha! Some went home early because they weren't permitted to stay out too long. Some arried.. Then, some others followed because of the curfew at the dorm. Then, well, fun fun fun.. haha.. keyboards, (Mark actually got the pageant thingy music that we were asking from him when we were planning for the cheerdance. Nice goin' Mark!!).. food.. talk.. chit chat.. games.. Then, nothing.. (? rily?!?) Some were asking for drinks. aha, IRIMNON. When I asked my dad about it, "NO" was the answer. Then my aunt insisted on havin' some, even just a lite one. So they bought some ingredients, and we created a mixture. Tasty. Yeah, that's the word, I guess. Not too strong, but not alcohol-free. Well, you know what I mean. (Ingredients: GSM Blue Gin + secret ingredients) Only two pitchers were served. (pasensya na to the hard drinkers, we don't offer too much.. just "right"... you know us..hehe..) Guys, abaadaw, they were competing for the pitcher. pinag-aagawan ba! Naks, pati and diri pwede uminom, uminom! upaya gud lah!! Thanks to my cousin, Ate Krissa, we were able to have those drinks! Plus the coke! music.. laughter.. story-telling with wyonna and the other two li'l cousins of ours.. marvin as the story-teller.. pictures.. then.. home.. (hehe) some of my visitors.. batchmates.. :D again, some of my visitors!! batchmates!! hehe the survivors, the last ones who left! XD
P.S. gift ko?!?! haha.. joke lah.. ui, maybe i forgot something or someone, pakicorrect agad!! PPS i'm sleepy na.. time check: 1:53 AM |
